Berlin-Tegel "Otto Lilienthal" (TXL) with Schoenefeld is one of the two international airports in the greater Berlin area. In 2018 - 22 million passengers were served. In terms of passenger traffic it ranks fourth in Germany behind Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf and is in 26th place in Europe overal.
Tegel Airport is eleven kilometers northwest of the Berlin city center in the district Tegel the district Reinickendorf, 37 m above sea level. However, the main access to the Tegel-Süd airport facilities, through which all civil aviation is handled, is in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district.
The airport is connected with public transport (bus lines TXL, X9, 109, 128). There is a feeder from the nearby Federal Highway 111, the highway itself runs north of it through a road tunnel next to the tarmac. Berlin Tegel Airport has two runway.
Tegel consists of five terminals. As the airport is small compared to other major airports, these terminals might be regarded as "halls" or "boarding areas"; nevertheless, they are officially referred to as "terminals", even if they share the same building.
