In Economy Class, passengers are allowed to carry a piece of hand luggage that weighs no more than 8 kg and does not exceed a total of 115 cm. In addition, travelers are allowed to carry a laptop bag that weighs a maximum of 8 kg. In the case of checked luggage, at least one suitcase of 23 kg and a maximum of 158 cm (L + B + H) is permitted in Economy Class. On certain international routes, travelers may place two pieces of baggage with the same limitations.

South African Airways passengers can check-in online, at the counter, at the vending machine, and online. For domestic flights, check-in ends 30 minutes, for all other connections 50 minutes before departure. For example, at Frankfurt Airport, vending machines are also available for self-check-in.
