Mandarin Airlines is a China Airlines owned subsidiary. Originally based on long-haul international passenger routes with special political relations with the Republic of China.
After the merger with Guohua Airlines in 1999, it also received the domestic routes of Guohua Airlines and China Airlines, and also transferred the long- haul international routes originally operated. China Airlines, therefore, is now mainly engaged in domestic, cross-strait and regional international routes, and is positioned as a medium-sized regional airline. The base and main transshipment center are located at Taichung International Airport , and the key airports are Taoyuan International Airport , Taipei Songshan Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport .
Both the Mandarin Airlines and the parent company's fleet are free to dispatch each other. Therefore, Mandarin Airlines uses 14 China Airlines' Boeing 737 , Airbus A330 and even Boeing 747 in some of its high-passage routes.
