China Southern Airlines is a member of aviation alliance SkyTeam, and ranks sixth in the world when it comes to passenger volume. Within Asia, the airline is considered to be the largest in terms of the number of passengers transported and the size of the fleet. The airline was founded in 1988 as part of a redesign of Chinese airspace. It is based in Guangzhou, China and serves an international network of 216 destinations.

The weight limit for carry-on luggage is 5 kg. Luggage above this size and weight limit must be checked in for a fee. If passengers want to take more than one piece of hand luggage on board, this will also be checked in as normal checked baggage.

Passengers booked on a China Southern Airlines flight can check in online from 48 hours to one hour before departure. This service is only available for passengers booked on an international or regional flight from Guangzhou. During online check-in, passengers can choose their preferred seat. For an online check-in, passengers will need a valid e-ticket and the passport / ID used to book the flight. Passengers holding a paper ticket can not check in online. Passengers wishing to check in at an airport counter can do so two hours before the scheduled departure and pay a check-in fee.
