Cayman Airways is the national airline of the Cayman Islands with its headquarters and hubs in George Town and Owen Roberts International Airport. The airline was founded in 1968 under the name Cayman Brac Airways. Founding members were the state of Cayman Islands and LACSA, the national airline of Costa Rica. The aircraft fleet of Cayman Airways currently consists of nine aircraft of the types Saab 340, Boeing 737-300 and de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300.
Cayman Airways offers its passengers a national and international route network. From Owen Roberts International Airport, the islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac are served. Other destinations in the Caribbean are Kingston, Havana or Montego Bay. In the US, passengers can travel to the cities of Chicago, New York, Miami, Dallas, Tampa, or Orlando. In Honduras La Ceiba is controlled by Cayman Airways.
👜 Baggage regulations at Cayman Airways
Passengers are allowed to carry a piece of hand luggage on their flight with Cayman Airways. This must not exceed the total amount in the sum of the three edge lengths of 58 x 33 x 22 cm and a weight of 18 kg. On hand luggage to Cayman Brac or Little Cayman the hand luggage may not weigh more than 6 kg. In addition to this carry-on baggage, every passenger is allowed to take items such as a laptop, a handbag, a wheelchair, crutches, a foldable buggy or a child seat into the cabin.
Travelers taking liquids or gels on board must have them filled in 90 ml containers and transported in a resealable, transparent plastic bag. The bag must not hold more than one liter of contents and must be completely closed.
On flights with Cayman Airways, passengers are allowed to check in two pieces of baggage. These may each weigh up to 24 kg and not exceed a total circumference (H + B + T) of 157 cm. Business class passengers are allowed to place a third piece of luggage up to 24 kg. Exceptions are flights to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, which have a free allowance of up to 24 kg per passenger. For baggage that exceeds the guidelines excess baggage charges will be required by the airline. No piece of luggage may weigh more than 45 kg.
Sports equipment such as a golf or fishing set or scuba gear can be used with the free luggage. If these items are above the allowed baggage policies, excess baggage charges will be charged according to the regular baggage policy.
🕗 Cayman Airways Web Check-in
Passengers who are on a Cayman Airways flight and have an e-ticket can use the airline's online check-in. Excluded are flights from Montego Bay and flights to and from Havana. Web check-in is available from 24 hours to 2 hours before departure for flights operated by Cayman Airways. A seat can be selected at check-in and upon successful check-in the boarding pass can be printed.
Passengers traveling with babies and toddlers, minors traveling alone, or persons in need of medical assistance or in wheelchairs can not check in online. Travelers departing from Owen Roberts Airport also have the option to check in the day before their trip. This early check-in at the airport is possible between 17:00 and 19:00.
